2017 Volvo XC90 Polestar review, upgrade

Vovlo XC90 made its debut in 2014 and surprised everyone with its excellent looks. Volvo is known for producing classic vehicles and the release of 2017 Volvo XC90 Polestar is a proof of that fact. This Swedish SUV will be coming with all new swoopy lines, Thor’s hammer headlights and also a twin engine hybrid variant. Even though there are no confirmed details about this vehicle yet, Volvo has confirmed that the new XC90 will make its initial appearance in 2016.

When it comes to the exteriors, you can expect all normal Polestar additions, like an iconic Revel Blue paint and beefy wheels. The body kit will serve as the highlight and it will be based on R-Design upgrade. The front end of this vehicle is expected to be more aggressive and it should come with a lot of holes for air ventilation. A sporty rear bumper around exhaust and side-sill extensions are other additions to look out for. Base trim of XC90 itself is stunning, the Polestar variant should be nothing less than stunning.

The cabin of 2017 Volvo XC90 Polestar is expected to be sporty and refined at the same time. It is expected that sports seats will be added to provide extra comfort to both passengers and driver. Overall, there should a decent amount of sports accents inside the cabin. It is even possible that Polestar will add some carbon fiber touches here and there.

As far as technology is concerned, every option and features available on XC90 should be offered with the standard package of 2017 Volvo XC90 Polestar as well. You can expect to see a lot of connectivity features, high-quality audio system, big touchscreen and almost all possible safety features.

2017 Volvo XC90 Polestar: Powertrain Specification

It has been officially confirmed that Polestar will be working only on T6 gasoline and D5 diesel engine models, which leaves T8 dual-engine model to its own devices. The D5 model will not be available in the US, but there will be a 2.0-liter diesel unit capable of generating 316 hp.

Only T6 Polestar will be available for US market. The 2017 XC90 Polestar T6 will be generating around 346 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque in its standard configuration, which is a supercharged 4 cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged unit. The 2.0-liter supercharged/turbocharged inline-4 + electric motor will have  output approximately 316 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Apart from being faster than the base model, XC90 will also have a significantly better handling. Wide tires, Brembo brakes, and thick anti-roll brakes will be provided to keep this vehicle on track.

2017 Volvo XC90 Polestar: Price, Competition and Availability

2017 Volvo XC90 Polestar is expected to release by the end of 2016, with no confirmation yet on its price tag. An increase in price by about $50,000-$60,000 is expected. The main rivals of this vehicle will be Audi Q7 and Acura MDX.
