2017 Lincoln Continental is set to be the company’s flagship model after 14 long years of absence from the market. The model was discontinued three times and came back again in 2015 in the form of Continental Concept at the auto show held in New York. This luxury limousine is yet to show its actual face, which we guess is still a year away, but still there is the concept model to analyze and dissect. This model will have lots of modifications to its outer body, interior design and powetrain configuration that will make it a worthy answer to the hype.
2017 Lincoln Continental: Exterior and Interior Design
We don’t expect to see many changes in the actual 2017 Lincoln Continental than what was revealed in the concept model. Few expensive and flashy parts may be removed to give the car a sober look, but that’s about it! It will have a new front grille on which the Lincoln logo sits a little bit higher, and the grille mesh is constructed using polished aluminium. The classic split wing grille is being chucked out much to the surprise of many fans worldwide. There is a possibility of the car having chrome strips on front/rear aprons as well as on its side skirts. There will also be new headlamps utilizing LED technology for illumination.
Making headlines are the new 2017 Lincoln Continental’s 30 way adjustable front and rear seats, which offer and comfort like never before. Apart from that feature, most of what we say on New York Auto Show will likely find its way in the actual release. The tablet supporting tray and sunroof with tinting smart glass are features that may not be exactly unique, but are refreshing to say the least. Lincoln’s luxurious traits can be seen with the inclusion of a champagne storage compartment in the premium trim level.
Safety features have yet not been announced, but it is expected that 2017 Lincoln Continental will boast of features such as Satellite navigation, rear-parking sensors, cruise control, safety air bags, etc. Infotainment is to be characterized by LED screen and a splendid audio system.
2017 Lincoln Continental: Engine Specs
It may or may not come as a surprise to many that Lincoln has decided to do away with their V8 engines with the release of 2015 Navigator. The 2017 Continental will have a V6 engine that a 3.5 L EcoBoost unit as shown in the concept vehicle. The output is still unknown, but according to our sources, Lincoln is aiming for at least 350 hp in order to provide stiff competition to other luxury car brands. It will be paired with either a 9-speed or 10-speed automatic transmission system. There is no doubt that powertrain would be a marvel to behold.
2017 Lincoln Continental: Release Date and Price
Expect the 2017 Lincoln Continental car to show up on sale sometime during 2016. We don’t know for sure how this car might be priced, but since the Continental is the second most expensive after Navigator, we are expecting a price of around $62,000.
