One of the primary reasons of Audi’s strong hold in full size sedan market is due to the Audi A4. Audi A4 is undoubtedly one of the most popular and reliable line of vehicles from German Automobile giants. It was introduced as a successor to the popular Audi 80 back in 1994. Currently it is in fourth generation of production which started from 2008. It falls under the category of compact executive vehicles. Even though the executive vehicle segment is currently ruled by Mercedes or BMW, one cannot just write of Audi.
2017 Audi A4: Platform
Currently Audi A4 is built on Volkswagen group B platform, but most probably 2017 version will have a more advanced platform. According to latest reports it might feature Volkswagen group’s second generation modular platform. It will have longitudinal modular architecture where the engine would be oriented horizontally length wise. Next generation MLB or MLB II as it is commonly referred to, will feature more light weight materials in order to improve on-road performance and fuel economy. Net weight is expected to reduce by 200 pounds at least. Both front wheel drive and all wheel drive version would be available.
2017 Audi A4: Exterior and Interior Design
Not much has yet been released about exterior design of 2017 Audi A4. Body will increase in dimensions a bit. Spy shots suggest that front end would be slightly modified with newly designed headlights and the larger front fascia. It will have a wide rectangular grille along with larger air outlets. On the rear end, four exhaust pipes would be visible.
On the interior 2017 Audi A4 has the typical executive car feel. With luxurious and comfortable features along with simplistic design, there would be minimal use of vibrant colour or chrome accent. Two features which seem to be very attractive are the 4G LTE internet connection and 15 speakers surround sound system.
2017 Audi A4: Engine and Performance
A 3.0 L TFSI V6 engine is confirmed. It would generate more than 333 HP of power and nearly 325 lb-ft of torque. Most probably there would be no V8 engine; instead there would be V6 with a pair of turbo for higher trim levels. There would also be a 2.0L 4 cylinder gasoline engine, details about which are not yet known.
2017 Audi A4: Price
According to speculations there would also be a hybrid e-tron model. Starting price is expected to be around $35,000. As already mentioned before, executive vehicles market currently has giants like BMW and Mercedes, therefore one may assume that 2017 Audi A4 will face a stern competition, especially from BMW 335I and Mercedes Benz C45 AGM. Both these vehicles come with high performance and elegant design, almost equivalent to that of the A4. But the Audi A4 is expected to edge past them based on its price.
